Dr. Ashok Menon

Dr. Ashok Menon is a renowned general surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience. He graduated from Calicut Medical College in 1981. He completed his postgraduate residency in general surgery from Trivandrum Medical College in 1987 and Diplomate National Board in 1988.

He worked in the prestigious Trivandrum Medical College as a Lecturer in the Department of Surgery for three years. He has also worked in several premium institutions and private healthcare organizations in Kerala. He moved to UAE in 1993 and worked as Consultant Surgeon in a 50 bedded hospital (Al Zahrawi Hospital) in Ras Al Khaimah for 3 years. In 1997 he established a multispecialty medical centre in Sharjah. He was attached to Gulf Medical College Hospital to perform major surgeries requiring anaesthesia, as a visiting consultant from 2002.

He has performed over 15,000 general surgical procedures in his 30 years of surgical practice. He has undergone specialized training in laparoscopic surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopies. He is academically oriented and keeps abreast with recent advances in the field of surgery. He regularly attends and gives presentations in national and international conferences/CME’s and has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals.

He has a special interest in management of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, metabolic syndrome and bariatric surgery.

He is member of several professional associations such as ‘Indian Medical Association’, ‘Association of Endocrine Surgeons’, ‘Association of Surgeons of India’, and ‘Association of Minimal Access Surgeons’.
